The Modern and The Old days of Employment

I remember my grandparents use to share their old stories and one of them is looking for jobs during the old days where people actually go shop to shops, house to house, sites to sites asking and begging for employments and if you are lucky enough to get hold of a job that could last you only a month and you start going around again. If you are even fortunate to have friends that could 'pull the string' to get you a decent job, make some good income and work under some good bosses and pray that their business could last forever so that you could hang on there for long. Without proper educations or guidance, everyone just struggled day after days. That were the golden days.

Nowadays, jobs are everywhere. In the paper, the internets, posted on the walls of the toilets, bus stands, walk way, traffic lights.Everywhere you name it. The best part is applicants need not run around asking or begging but just a few buttons away calling to ask about the job. What do they do? The first common question will be how much is the pay and do i need to walk or sell? Imagine the pampered life everyone is going through. The life of being fortunate to sit their butt in primary and secondary schools for almost 11-12 years. Then off to college and uni for another 3-4 years. Some with their parents hard earned money and some with the ready loans available right in front of them. After all the "all ready for them and fully equipped" they still tend to be JOBLESS for months after graduations after said all the jobs available more than a few load of trucks can carry. One tend to wonder if it is caused by the competition of job hunting or merely the attitude of the one looking for a job.

I still bump into people who tells me that it is hard to secure a job nowadays where they are still jobless after months of graduation. My common question to them will always be "what are you looking for actually?" These people tend to pause at that moment and start thinking and the answers are usually very self deceit which I usually don't have that energy to debate about their answers but telling them again to be truthful with themselves. It is kind of hard to tell them my grandmother's story about job hunting in the old days where they hardly have any space to pierce that priceless story into their ears. All I could tell these people are to take their sweet time and look for the most suitable job they are looking for. As long their pocket could hold on that long or they have the infinity amount in their ATM card. Good for them.

Sometimes knowing some old stories be it a real one or created one could actually give us some benchmark living in this world of mercy of how others could do it during the old days.
